Fitness for Myself and Acting

Many of us embark on the journey of getting in shape, aiming to become the best versions of ourselves. While I don't claim to be a diet or fitness expert, I am a passionate enthusiast on a mission to conquer "the last 10!" My goal? To reach this milestone without resorting to drastic, unsustainable lifestyle changes.

With a commitment to engaging in at least 12 challenging workouts each month and refining my diet, I’m ready to embrace this journey with enthusiasm and determination. Join me as I navigate the ups and downs, celebrate the small victories, and discover the exhilarating path to fitness success!

Acting and Fitness: A Shared Journey

As an actor, physicality is crucial. The way I present myself on stage or screen and in life is often tied to my physical fitness. Staying in shape not only enhances my confidence but also allows me to embody a wider range of characters. Each workout I complete is not just a step towards my fitness goals; it’s also a rehearsal for the roles I aspire to play. The discipline I cultivate through fitness translates directly into my craft, helping me to stay focused and committed to my acting career.

The Journey Begins

About three years ago, I realized I wasn't satisfied with my appearance. I committed to exercising three times a week and discovered an amazing app called "Fitbod." This app allowed me to tailor my workouts using just the equipment I had in my small NYC apartment: a yoga mat and two twenty-pound dumbbells. By entering your equipment, goals, age, weight, and other details, the app creates varied workouts for each day. Within about a year, I lost the first 10 pounds.

Facing Challenges

The problem was that over the following six months, my weight didn't decrease any further. I tried increasing the number of workouts each week, but four sessions per week seemed to be my limit. My weight remained unchanged. I felt stuck.

Then I asked myself the tough question, "Should I go on a diet?" I hate this question! Does this mean I am drastically out of shape and have let myself go to the point of not being able to enjoy my favorite foods and drinks? How will my wife react if I start eating separate food? She has told me many times that she has no interest in dieting.

Finding Solutions

The answer I found was another app, "Lose It." On this app, I have a daily calorie goal that I aim to reach. I log my food, snacks, and drinks. It's made easier by taking a picture of your food and letting the app's AI calculate the calories. The app can also scan barcodes on labels to simplify food calculations. I have managed to lose another 10 pounds using this app. More importantly, I have become more mindful of my consumption choices, and I love saying that I am not giving anything up.

The Ongoing Struggle

This brings me to my struggle! I am actually averaging more than 12 workouts a month, and logging my calories has become a habit. But I still want to lose 10 more pounds and keep it off. I hope to share my discoveries and solve my personal riddle of losing "the last 10."
